We recommend going at least 1,000 lbs below your maximum towing capacity for the dry weight of your rv to allow plenty of room for clothes, food and other camping supplies. If you would like to look up the maximum towing capacity of your tow vehicle you can click here for our tow rating database.

Weight distribution hitches are designed to equally distribute the tongue weight of the rv to all four tires of your tow vehicle. Most Weight distribution hitches come with or have sway control built into the set up, which helps reduce trailer sway when you are traveling down the road.

Fresh Water Tank: Your on board tank dedicated to holding fresh water. Normally only used if you are going dry camping, or your site at a particular campground does not have a city water inlet.

City Water: On the exterior of your rv you will find a water hookup, most likely on the off door side that is labeled "city water". This inlet is used if you are at a campground that has a fresh water connection. By hooking up to the city water inlet it will bypass the fresh water tank and go directly into the water system.

Grey Water Tank: Grey water is going to be your dirty water. It is the run off from the shower, as well as any sinks in your RV.

Black Water Tank: Black Water is your toilet tank. All of your waste from the toilet goes into this tank.

Dry Weight: Dry weight is how much the camper weighs off the line from the factory. It is the amount it weighs with nothing in it. It is sometimes also referred to as the ship weight.

GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating): This is the total amount that the axles for your RV are rated to tow.
